Well, Curry-in-a-Hurry certainly delivers on its name, when you dine in! I tried my favorite dish–palek paneer–on Tuesday, February 22nd at this no-fuss, no-nonsense eat-in or take-out restaurant on the corner of Lexington and 28th Street.
The counter-boys also convinced me to try two chicken kebobs. Well this little meal comes with a all-you-can-eat salad and all-you-can-muster chutney bar for fixin’s! And it all comes in around $10.00 (including a Ginger Ale). Not bad!
However, yes folks, there is a “however.” The palek paneer was not what it used to be. Yes folks, I used to rave about Curry-in-a-Hurry’s palek paneer. But this was back in 1997 when I’d have it delivered for lunch. That time the palek paneer was delicious but the delivery was slow. Of course, they were delivering it completely across town and 28 blocks south of where they were–even in tortential downpours!
Nonetheless, I’d go back to Curry-in-a-Hurry just because it’s authentic, it’s real, it’s New York and it still really was delicous!
